In urban settings, one can melt with the crowd.
In a rural setting, this is more difficult to do. There is no crowd. Only groups of people. By walking in a rural setting, one immediately becomes different from the crowd. This endangers observation. What one can do to respond to being singled out in a rural setting is to participate in rural life. Build deeper connections, engage with longer conversations.
