This is a guide on how to use eSim on an iPhone using Airalo
Reminders
- Be sure to have a stable internet connection.
- Install at home then activate later when you arrive in your destination.
- Avoid interrupting the installation process.
- Don’t delete the esim.
Installation and activation via Airalo
- Click view instructions.
- Choose Direct installation.
- Next
- Install eSIM
- Continue
- Continue again
- Wait for 2 minutes
- Select the Default line (Choose primary so you can still receive calls or messages through you main SIM).
- Select iMessage and Facetime (Choose primary)
- Mobile Data (Choose Primary if you won’t use it yet or Personal if you’ll use it already)
- Keep “Allow Mobile Data Switching” turned off.
- Continue.
- The eSIM is successfully installed.
Activating eSIM when you arrive at destination.
- Settings
- Cellular
- Click Travel
- Mobile Plan Label - Rename it to something relevant to your trip.
- Make sure “Turn on this line” is toggled on.
- Set Network Selection to Automatic.
- Check Mobile/Cellular Data Network and make sure the apn is filled in. If apn isn’t filled in, go back to the Airalo app > View instructions > Scroll down to apn > Copy and paste information
- Choose Low Data Mode
- Toggle Data Roaming on
To make sure you don’t use your home data when you’re away:
- Go to Settings.
- Mobile Service
- Find Primary SIM and click
- Scroll down
- Toggle the Data Roaming off
To track data usage, check the Airalo app or use its widget
